DocScan — Privacy policy

In short

DocScan keeps your documents on your phone. It has no account, no server, no ads and no analytics, and it does not collect, sell or share any information about you.

What stays on your phone

The pages you scan or import, the text recognised from them, the titles, folders and settings you choose. They are stored inside the app on your device and are excluded from iCloud and Google device backups, so they are not copied off the phone unless you do it.

What we collect

Nothing. The app sends no data to us or to anyone else. Text recognition runs on your device. There is no crash reporter and no analytics: if the app fails, nothing is sent. On Android the app does not even have permission to use the internet.

Permissions

Camera: on iPhone, to scan documents with the camera (on Android, scanning uses Google’s document scanner and the app itself needs no camera permission). Face ID or fingerprint: only if you turn on App lock; your phone checks it and the app never sees your face or fingerprint. Photos: you pick images with the system photo picker, and the app receives only the images you choose — it has no access to the rest of your library.

When something leaves your phone

Only when you choose to: exporting or sharing a document sends it where you pick — an app, a folder, an email. Each document keeps a record of where it has been, under “Where this document has been”. If you report a problem, your own email app opens with the app version and device model; recent errors are added only if you agree, and never document names, text or files. You see the whole message before sending it.

Deleting your data

Delete any document in the app; it waits in Recently deleted for 30 days, then is removed for good. Settings → Delete all documents removes everything at once. Uninstalling the app removes all of its data from the phone. We hold no copy to delete.

Children

DocScan is a general-purpose tool. It collects no data from anyone, including children.
